Position yourself as an employer of choice
Be an employer of choice in an increasingly competitive jobs market

Create a positive candidate experience: Ensure your selection process is engaging and thorough. Requesting and taking on board feedback from both successful and unsuccessful candidates allows you to build a recruitment process that is fit for purpose.
Put organisation values at the heart of your offering: Candidates are increasingly attracted by an organisation’s culture and values; ensure that your values are clearly communicated and shown to be at the centre of your employee and customer experience.
Focus on career growth opportunities: Career development and growth opportunities matter to candidates and employees alike. There are plenty of ways in which you can develop people without having to break the bank. Think about opportunities for cross-function working, working on special projects, short or longer-term secondments and internal mentoring schemes.
Review your pay and benefits: Over the last few years, we have seen a period of considerable pay restraint and, more recently, pay has not kept up with inflation. Where possible, review your approach to pay and benefits and consider adjustments to increase your appeal to new joiners and employees.
Evaluate and review your recruitment and retention practices: Less than 20% of organisations have any ROI measures when it comes to their recruitment processes. This is a missed opportunity. Even the simplest forms of measurement can be effective, such as tracking the turnover rate of new hires, seeking feedback from candidates on their experience and monitoring the performance of new recruits. This will give organisations the insight to attract and retain good candidates, and strengthen their position as an employer of choice.
